Voices of the Holocaust Project This site was created by the Illinois Institute of Technology’s Paul V. Galvin Library. Its purpose is to provide students, researchers, historians, and the general public with access to interviews with Holocaust survivors. The interviews were conducted in nine languages by Dr. David P. Boder in 1946 using a wire recorder. Dr. Boder visited sixteen locations in four countries, France, Italy, Switzerland, and Germany. He interviewed Jews and non-Jews alike. The collection represents perhaps the earliest audio recordings of Holocaust survivor interviews. You can not only listen to the actual interviews, but also read English translations of the transcripts and commentary. This site has a wealth of information including maps of the locations of the ghettos and concentration camps, biographical information about the interviewees, a glossary, and a bibliography just to name a few items.

Yad Vashem This is the Jerusalem-based Holocaust martyrs’ and heroes’ remembrance authority site.

University of Southern California Shoah Foundation Institute Steven Spielberg established the Survivors of the Shoah Visual History Foundation in 1994. It is today the largest archive of video testimonies from witnesses of the Holocaust. In 2006, the Foundation became part of the USC College of Letters, Arts, and Sciences in Los Angeles.

The United States Holocaust Museum “The Museum’s primary mission is to advance and disseminate knowledge about this unprecedented tragedy; to preserve the memory of those who suffered; and to encourage its visitors to reflect upon the moral and spiritual questions raised by the events of the Holocaust as well as their own responsibilities as citizens of a democracy.” (excerpted from the Mission Statement of the US Holocaust Museum)

Hatikvah Holocaust Education Center This is the home of the exhibit A Reason to Remember which was displayed at our library from 17 January through 14 February. Congregation Havurah Shalom of Sun City sponsored the exhibit and provided the docent-led tours. This site is worth a visit.
